White Mountaineering Spring/Summer 2011

Last Summer, I did intern at an editorial office in Tokyo and had a lot of precious experience there. One of the best things was watching the fashion show from the front row!

The day before I finish the internship, an editor kindly asked me "do you wanna go to the show after work?" Of course, my answer was "YES!!!!!" And as I got the invitation for the editor-in-chief, Luckily, I was taken to the front row!!

The show I watched was for White Mountaineering Spring/Summer 2011.
This brand has not been that famous in overseas yet, but in Japan, this brand has become popular in recent years.

White Mountaineering is established by the designer Yosuke Aizawa in 2006 and the concept is "The field in which we wear the clothes is all outdoors." He had worked for Comme Des Garçons for 5 years before establishing the brand. The clothes which Aizawa designs are mixture of design, utility and technology and usually inspired by outdoor clothes.

Spring/Summer 2011 season seems very much about geometric pattern and Tribal print.
He used various patterns of print in the collection and was made the garments unique. The taste of outdoor was successfully filtered down to street casual.
Here's some looks from the show.

In this collection, especially, I really like the desert boots with geometric pattern.

Balmain Autumn/Winter 2011

This season, Christophe Decarnin succeeded in creating gorgeous men's collection with mixture of military and mountaineering. Each piece of collection looks edgy but wearable.  Especially, I love lace-up boots, the peacoat and the fury jacket.

Although it's gonna be pricey as it's Balmain, I want everything!!

Will red be a next colour trend?

By watching all the collection photos online, I found out "Red" will be a key colour for Autumn/Winter 2011.

Most of brands in the Milan collection adopted various "Red" from vermilion to burgundy in their collections and even more several brands like Dolce & Gabbana and Moncler Gamme Bleu used "Red" as their one of  the main colours .

Alexander McQueen

Bally

Moschino

Pringle of Scotland

Burberry Prorsum

Dolce & Gabbana

Emporio Armani

Jil Sander

Missoni

Trussardi 1911 Autumn/Winter 2011

Thanks to the creative director, Milan Vukmirovic, old-fashioned brand Trussardi came back to the world of Mode as Trussardi 1911 in 2008.

This season is the 100th anniversary of the brand and he made an unique collection with using leather only as its origin is leather goods.

Also, similar to Burberry Prorsum, Trussardi offers pre-order of the collection in collaboration with thecorner.com.

Here's some photos of catwalk. Just remind all the garments are made of leather!   Especially white T-shirt and camo-printed parka, I can't believe they are "leather products" from pictures.

I really impressed Vukmirovic's amazing idea of celebrating the anniversary of the brand!

Burberry Prorsum Autumn/Winter 2011 for Men

I have watched a live streaming of Burberry Prorsum Autumn/Winter 2011 collection and thought Christopher Bailey has done well as usual.

He is one of my favorite designers and I have loved his creation as his design has great balance between wearable and unique, also he uses Burberry's heritage in modern & edgy interpretation.

Also, he is one of the most advanced designers in terms of the acceptance of the digital media. He has done the 3D live streaming of catwalk shows in several cities, live streaming of shows online and pre-ordering system which starts soon after the show finished.

In this season, the show started with the look of a red check coat.

The colour pallet of the collection is based on warm colours such as red, orange and yellow, and basic colours such as dark brown and camel.  Comparing to legendary last Autumn and Winter collection which is inspired by military clothes and last Spring and Summer collection which is inspired by rock style, he seems to changed to the new direction with a touch of warm colours and it became more simple and clean. Also, instead of shearling(from A/W 2010), he used a lot of mink fur in the collection. However, from some features such as over-sized silhouettes and big shawls and collars, we can see the elements from his previous collections.

Overall, I enjoyed watching various selections of coats, but it's not impressed as the previous two collections (cus I was so impressed and loved them) and one thing very disappointing was there's no long boots in the collection! Full of vibram-sole short boots and trainers...

At the finale of the show, models wearing raincoats (ponchos) walked in the rain. I loved this unique ending!!
